SPK - Palms Crossed In Sorrow
SPK, the electronic / industrial / ambient idea of Graeme Revell - now for his film music for numerous films and television programs known. His sense of composition and orchestration (and I use this word in the traditional sense ...), which obviously present in his work being all together, to which this recording, originally released in 1986, will testify. This music is played / built / with creative brilliance and ingenuity together - there are many contemporaryArtists who owe a great debt his pioneering work, and much of what the innovation in this genre do not hold a candle to it. Revell uses all sorts of sounds - keyboards, orchestral instruments, percussion, ethnic instruments from around the world, recorded votes (including solo parts specifically for this music, and altered recordings of choirs and rebuilt and looped voices from primitive culture rituals), found sounds (ambiance of a yard, chains clinkingPrinting noise, swing, metal sheet) and recordings from the wild (toads, crows), mixing them is not random but with precision and skill and sense of a coherent whole that nothing is less surprising. The resulting music has elements of the sacred and the secular - it is darkness and light, a heavenly beauty and grueling performance, a subtle and manifest had.
